What Inlet Beach is like

Visit South Walton calls Inlet Beach the eastern gateway to 30A and "a classic beach town that many generations have come to visit." It's home to 30A's only pedestrian underpass, beneath Highway 98, which doubles as a public art space with large murals by local artists. Inlet Beach also borders Lake Powell, one of the world's rare coastal dune lakes, where fresh water meets the Gulf. Across 98, 30Avenue brings together boutique shopping, chef-driven restaurants, events and green space.

Inlet Beach suits you if you want a laid-back home base, like to drive or bike to different towns, and prefer a condo or smaller home over a resort village.

What Rosemary Beach is like

Rosemary Beach was designed with architecture inspired by the West Indies and European coastal villages: narrow streets, courtyards, town squares and a bell tower above the Town Center. It's built for walking; the community says most destinations are about five minutes on foot, connected by paths, boardwalks and greens. Its parks host picnics, games and community events, and it's home to the 30A Farmers' Market.

Rosemary Beach suits you if you want to park the car for the week and stroll to dinner, coffee and the beach within one town.

You don't have to choose

Because the two are neighbors, staying in one makes it easy to enjoy the other. From Golden Hour Dunes in Inlet Dunes, Rosemary Beach is about five minutes by car, so you can spend mornings on a quiet stretch of sand and evenings in Rosemary's town center, or head there for the farmers' market and holiday events like the 30A 10K on Thanksgiving Day.

Where we stay: Golden Hour Dunes

Golden Hour Dunes is a top-floor, one-bedroom condo in the Inlet Dunes community on the east end of 30A. It sleeps six (a king bedroom, a hallway bunk nook and a queen sleeper sofa), has a full kitchen, an in-unit washer and dryer and a private balcony, and shares a community pool. The sand is about a two-minute walk away, and Rosemary Beach is about five minutes by car. It is a third-floor walk-up, and it books through our local manager, Ocean Reef Resorts.

It's a one-bedroom condo, so it suits a couple, a small family or a few close friends rather than a big group. If you want a whole house in a walkable village, Rosemary Beach may be a better fit; if you want a simple, comfortable base on the east end of 30A, we'd love to host you.
