Thanksgiving week is one of the best times to see 30A: the summer crowds are gone, the towns switch on their holiday lights, and there is a free event almost every evening. This guide covers Saturday, November 21 through Sunday, November 29, 2026. All times are Central Time, which is the time zone on 30A. Events can change, so check each organizer's page before you go.

Not listed: the Rosemary Beach Christmas tree lighting. Some rental sites list it for Friday, Nov 27, but it isn't on Rosemary Beach's official calendar yet, so check rosemarybeach.com/events before you plan around it.
Heads up: 30A closes Thanksgiving morning
According to the race organizers, Highway 30A is closed to all traffic on Thursday, November 26, from 7:00 to 10:30 AM, from East Water Street in Rosemary Beach to the 10K turnaround at Bridge Lane, and Watersound Parkway is affected too. If you're driving to a Thanksgiving lunch, plan around that window. Race registration closes November 24 at 11:59 PM.
Where to eat Thanksgiving dinner on 30A
- Cuvée 30A (30Avenue): Chef Tim Creehan's Thanksgiving meal with Louisiana fried turkey, Thursday Nov 26, 11 AM–3 PM. Reservations are strongly recommended, and the restaurant says turkey-to-go is not available.
- WaterColor Lakehouse: Thanksgiving Day buffet, Nov 26, 10 AM–3 PM. Reservations required through WaterColor Inn.
- Fish Out of Water, WaterColor Inn: Thanksgiving featured plates (turkey and dressing) plus the all-day menu, Nov 26, 11 AM–9 PM. No reservations; seating is first come, first served.
Thanksgiving takeout and groceries
If you'd rather eat on the balcony, the simplest option is a fully cooked holiday meal from Publix. The Watersound Town Center store is at 11291 US Hwy 98 E in Inlet Beach. Publix holiday meals are ordered online for in-store pickup; the last day to order for Thanksgiving is Nov 23, the last pickup day is Nov 25, and Publix asks for at least 48 hours' notice. Publix stores are closed on Thanksgiving Day, so pick up everything you need by Wednesday. The meals come cold with heating instructions, which is easy in a full condo kitchen.
Other things to do Thanksgiving week
- Walk the towns after dark once the lights go on: Seaside after Saturday's Turn on the Town, and Alys Beach after Friday's tree lighting.
- Shop small on Saturday: Alys Beach invites guests back for Small Business Saturday on Nov 28, and the WaterColor Store stays open until 9 PM during the winter market.
- Explore Inlet Beach, the eastern gateway to 30A: Visit South Walton points out the only pedestrian underpass on 30A (lined with murals) and Lake Powell, a rare coastal dune lake.
- Catch the free Wednesday music at Seaside on Nov 25 before the holiday rush.
Thanksgiving weather on 30A
Late November is mild. NOAA's 1991–2020 climate normals for the nearest airport station (Northwest Florida Beaches International) put the average November high at about 73°F and the low at about 48°F, with around 4 inches of rain for the month. Pack layers: a light jacket for evening parades and tree lightings, and something warmer for the 7:30 AM race start.
Why stay at Golden Hour Dunes for Thanksgiving
Golden Hour Dunes is a top-floor, one-bedroom condo in the Inlet Dunes community on the east end of 30A. It sleeps six (a king bedroom, a hallway bunk nook and a queen sleeper sofa), has a full kitchen, an in-unit washer and dryer and a private balcony, and shares a community pool. The sand is about a two-minute walk away, and Rosemary Beach is about five minutes by car. It is a third-floor walk-up, and it books through our local manager, Ocean Reef Resorts.
For Thanksgiving week, that means you can cook or reheat a holiday meal in your own kitchen, walk to the beach for sunset, and be in Rosemary Beach for the 10K start without a long drive. Alys Beach, Seaside and WaterColor are all along the same road.
